DAVID SHANE MEADE

January 17, 2020

David Shane Meade, 29, ascended to his heavenly home on Thursday, January 16, 2020. Surrounded by loved ones, he took flight from University of Virginia Medical Center. David was the beloved son of Paula Hill Collins and Michael Meade. A lifelong Christian, he was dedicated back to God at 6 months of age, and gave his life and heart to Jesus through baptism when he was 9 years old.

David valued education, graduating from Pound High School with honors, earning his Bachelor’s Degree with honors from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, and his Master’s in Business Administration from Liberty University. He was also honored with the title of a Kentucky Colonel. He dedicated his life to helping make the lives of others better. He was devoted to the work of the Health Wagon, and was also an extremely talented realtor. With his charisma, attention to detail, and strong work ethic, he helped many people find their dream homes in and around Wise County, and will be remembered fondly by them as “Realtor Dave”.

Although David had many things he enjoyed in life—from Tennessee Titan football to tennis—his greatest joy was his four-year-old son, Daxton Shane. From the moment Dax was born, he was the center of his Daddy’s world. From cuddles and diapers to Chevy trucks, sports, super heroes, and zoo trips the two shared a love that will always endure.

David was received in Heaven by his grandparents, Paul Hill and Mattie Ella Hill; grandmother, Ota Meade; and grandparents, Kestrel Gouge and Shelby Gouge.

His legacy lives on in his many beloved relatives and friends; his son, Daxton Shane Meade; his parents, Michael Meade and Paula Hill Collins and her husband Adrian Collins, father, Doyle Gouge; sister, Jaida Ariella Grace Meade; uncle, Paul David Hill; spiritual aunt, Teresa Tyson; fiancé, Sarah Hubbard; spiritual brother, Robbie Barker; and spiritual sister, Ashton Gardner. Special thanks to David’s many close friends for their unwavering love and support, to Sheilah and Jeff Collins, to LifeCare Ambulance, Trish Carico, Rocky Rose, Danny Boggs, and Tommy Dingus, and to Don and Gigi Pippin for the compassion, love, and support they have given.

Everyone who knew David was blessed by his wonderful caring personality. David Shane was loved by so many and had a positive meaningful impact on the lives of those around him; he will be greatly missed. In a world where young people are taken too soon, we must find comfort in the fact that he was welcomed into Heaven by those loved ones who went before him. He will always be remembered as the kind, intelligent, caring, loving, successful father, son, and brother we will all cherish forever.
