The purpose of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary is to devote time and energy to improve the condition, health and interest of wounded, injured or disabled veterans and their families; to stimulate a feeling of mutual devotion, helpfulness and comradeship among all members and to encourage in all people that spirit of understanding which will guard against future wars. 

DAVA Wise Unit 56 has won eight outstanding awards from the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Department of Virginia for Community Service, Juniors Activities, three Juniors member of the year awards,one in each of the age categories (Abigail Sturgill, Mason Mellon and Olivia Sanders (Legislation, Mae Holmes, and VAVS Award. Community service is a way of becoming involved for the needs of others.

Storage

This is one way to fulfill the purpose of the organization and we are always looking for new members to help us to serve the veterans that are our heroes. Please contact our Commander Robert “Dicky” Wampler at 423/416-7866 for information on eligibility and procedures to become a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.

Finally, our Unit in this corner of the State is recognized for our work and support of veterans.
