UVa-Wise cost hikes are topic of meeting Friday

November 07, 2019

The University of Virginia Board of Visitors will hold an “educational workshop” for the public Friday to discuss tuition and fee increases for the College at Wise.

The meeting will include a public comment session from 3-4:15 p.m. in the college’s Chapel of All Faiths.

Undergraduate tuition and fees are proposed to increase by 3 percent for the 2020-21 school year, according to a UVa release. Revenue generated from tuition and fee increases, along with other incremental revenue sources, will be used to address faculty and staff compensation, investments in academic programs and STEM degrees, increases in operations and maintenance of facilities and other priorities.

During the comment session:

• Individuals may speak on a first-come, first-served basis. Upon arrival, each speaker will be asked to sign in and specify their affiliation with the university and/or the community. Each speaker may speak for a maximum of three minutes.
