PACE Craft Show & Open House is Nov. 2

October 31, 2019

BIG STONE GAP – The community is invited to attend the annual PACE Craft Show & Open House on Nov. 2.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. inside the PACE Center, 1508 Third Ave. E., Big Stone Gap. PACE is Mountain Empire Older Citizens’ Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. MEOC serves Lee, Scott and Wise counties and Norton.

The upcoming craft show will feature hand-knitted and crocheted pieces, woodwork, holiday ornaments, decorative items and more. Besides shopping for crafts, visitors can see the PACE facilities and learn more about the program.

Donna Mahan, PACE activities director, said about 15 vendors have registered for the event thus far. Spots are $10 each.

The show will also feature handmade crafts from PACE participants themselves. Mahan said PACE participants begin working on their handmade crafts in July. “They love it. It’s something they really look forward to,” she noted.

A hot dog sale is planned too. All proceeds from those sales, plus the vendor fees, will benefit the PACE participants’ Christmas fund. The fund provides gift cards, a local shopping trip, treat-filled stockings and presents for every PACE participant, along with a holiday party. In previous years, presents have included items such as lap blankets, hats, gloves and scarves.
