Tax deadline is Oct. 31

The deadline to pay Wise County 2019 personal property and second half of Wise County 2019 real estate taxes is Oct. 31.
After the Oct. 31 due date, penalty will be added to taxes that have not been paid. The penalty is 10 percent or $2, whichever is greater, however, the penalty shall in no case exceed the amount of the original tax. In addition, 5 percent interest per year will be charged beginning Nov. 1.

Payments can be mailed to Wise County Treasurer, P.O. Box 1308, Wise, Va. 24293 or paid in person at the Wise County Treasurers’ Office located in Wise, during regular office hours of 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Payments can also be placed in the drop box located near the parking garage entrance at the back of the courthouse.

Citizens are offered the convenience of paying current taxes at the following banks:

• First Bank & Trust in Wise and Norton;

• Miners Exchange Bank in Appalachia, Coeburn, St. Paul, Wise and Norton;

• New Peoples Bank in Big Stone Gap, Esserville and Pound;

• Powell Valley National Bank in Big Stone Gap and Wise.

Taxes may also be paid by credit/debit card through www.webfeepay.com. A convenience fee of 2.75 percent will be charged by the card provider. Also taxpayers may call the Wise County Treasurer’s office and pay with a check by phone. A convenience fee of $3 will be charged by the provider for this service.
