Crash kills Coeburn man

A Coeburn man has been killed in a two-vehicle crash.

It occurred Saturday shortly before 9 a.m. on Route 72 in Scott County, less than a mile south of Route 660, according to Virginia State Police.

A 2002 Ford Focus was traveling south when it crossed the centerline and struck a 2016 Toyota Tundra traveling north. The impact caused the Toyota to run off the right side of the road and strike the embankment.

The driver of the Ford Focus, Michael C. McReynolds, 22, of Coeburn, died at the scene. McReynolds was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Toyota, Steve D. Brickey, 64, of Dungannon, was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.

Fatigue is being investigated as a factor in the crash.
