As a church camp counselor, Jacob Fields was significantly heavier than now. He weighed 215 pounds when he graduated from high school. ‘Those church ladies can cook some good food, I’ll tell you that,’ Fields says, ‘that and momma’s cookin.’ He peaked at 218 before he decided to do something about it. ‘I didn’t want to be a fat kind of guy all my life,’ he said. ‘Besides, if your going to be the front man for your band, you’ve got to be in shape.’ He started eating healthier, like chicken and steamed rice, but not always. ‘When you move out on your own, you’re broke. You eat a lot of Ramen and Pop-tarts.’ That takes the weight off, too. What does he eat now? ‘My metabolism is so crazy. I can eat whatever I want now,’ he says. While he tries to mind what he eats, ‘it’s not the most healthiest food when you’re playing music on the road.’
