The Halloween snowfall that Superstorm Sandy brought to the central Appalachian mountains last week had long since melted away by Friday, except for a thick blanket of the white stuff that remained on the higher elevations along High Knob. Nighttime temperatures for the area are expected to stay in the mid-30s most of this week, with daytime highs in the mid-50s tomorrow and dipping to the 40s Wednesday and Thursday. JEFF LESTER PHOTO
