Off to Richmond

The Central Lady Warriors will make their second trip to Richmond in as many weeks this weekend. After upending Brunswick in the VHSL Group 2A state semifinals last Friday, coach Robin Dotson’s squad will make a return trip to Virginia Commonwealth University Siegel Center to battle familiar Clinch Mountain Conference foe Gate City. The Lady Blue Devils have defeated Central in each of the teams’ four previous meetings this season. The fifth meeting will be to decide the state champion. Two other southwest Virginia squads will tangle for the Group 1A girls basketball state championship in Richmond Saturday when Honaker takes on Chilhowie at the Siegel Center at noon.
