Celtic Festival features Scottish singer in concert

The Southern Highlanders (Doug and Darcy Orr and Joe and Karen Holbert) hail from the Asheville area and are led by Doug Orr, President Emeritus at Warren Wilson College. Doug was responsible for founding the Swannanoa Gathering series of summer schools including Celtic Week. He and the rest of the Highlanders are perfectly placed to add that Appalachian dimension to our celebration of all things Celtic. Doug is currently writing a book, ‘Wayfaring Strangers’ with Fiona Ritchie, host of NPR’s The Thistle & Shamrock, about the musical connections between Scotland, Ireland and Southern Appalachia.
