A memorial notes the work the Civilian Conservation Corps did to build the recreation area between 1938-42. It also remembers James Sismore, who died on the job. Newspaper reports from Sept. 7, 1939 note that Sismore, 18, of Glendale, Pa., ‘caught fire, while servicing a tractor, in the High Knob Lake area.’ He later died at the Norton hospital.
