Payless welcomes new owner: Business sold after 66 years as family operation

Early Thursday morning, Payless Supermarkets owners J.B. Atwood, wife Freda and son Alan were at the Coeburn grocery. The stores are being sold as the elder Atwoods plan for retirement and their son joins the new company, Houchens Industries, which will keep the three stores open under the Payless name.
