William J. Mays • Age: 61. • Address: 856 Highland Ave., Norton. • Email: wmays71@gmail.com. • Education: 1971 graduate of Burton High School. • Employment: I spent 40 years working in emergency medical services, both career and volunteer; I now work in retail as a commercial parts specialist for Advance Auto Parts in St. Paul. • Civic involvement: I have served on City Council for 28 years and the last six as mayor. • If re-elected, what goals and priorities will you pursue? If re-elected I plan to keep working with City Council, our city manager, state and federal legislators in helping to maintain our current business climate and to help recruit new business and jobs to Norton and the area. I will also continue my support of our local and regional tourism boards. I feel these boards have made tremendous advancements in attracting tourists to our region and to our city. I am extremely proud of our city board. With the recent down turn in our local economy due to the loss of many coal jobs, our area is suffering loss of tax revenue that it takes to run local governments and provide the services our citizens expect and deserve. Norton is fortunate to have two major hospitals, a major bottling company, several chain retail stores, and a host of professional offices and local merchants who we MUST protect and help them to grow their business. If re-elected I pledge to continue my support for these businesses and to help attract new businesses. It is and always has been my goal to serve ALL the citizens of Norton in the fairest and most impartial way possible. I ask for your vote and support on Nov. 4.
