INCUMBENT: H. Morgan Griffith Griffith, 56, was elected to the House of Representatives in 2010, unseating long-time Democratic incumbent Rick Boucher. Griffith, a Republican and an attorney, was formerly the majority leader of the Virginia House of Delegates, having served in the General Assembly from 1994 to 2011. Griffith lives in Salem. He is married and has three children. In Congress, Griffith serves on the Energy and Commerce committee and its subcommittees on energy and power and oversight and investigations. Griffith has been a vocal critic of the Affordable Care Act health reform measure and he opposes increased government control of health care. Also, he has consistently criticized the Obama Administration’s positions on Environmental Protection Agency regulation of coal mining and coal-fired power plant air emissions.
