Dottie Abshire received a plaque of appreciation Oct. 21 from Norton Mayor William Mays during city council's meeting. Abshire is retiring after 27 years of service to Norton as a 911 emergency dispatcher and dispatch supervisor. Joining in the recognition of Abshire were, left to right, Councilman Mark Caruso, Vice Mayor Joe Fawbush and Councilman Terry Roop. Councilman Huck Hunnicutt did not attend the meeting.
