J.I. Burton’s Isaac Perrigan recently won the state championship in the Virginia High School League Group 2A/1A Indoor Track and Field Championships at Liberty University in Lynchburg. Perrigan earned his gold medal in the 300-meter dash with a time of 36.57, just .02 seconds faster than second-place finisher DaJaun Seward, of Brunswick, and just .05 seconds off the state record. He is the first J.I. Burton athlete to win a state indoor track championship in school history. Perrigan, hopes to compete in five different events at the VHSL state track and field championships this spring.
