Local student featured on new Bristol Sessions album

Winner of the Birthplace of Country Music’s Orthophonic Joy Music Contest, Hayslett is a local musician, a senior at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, and an instructor at the Mountain Music School at Mountain Empire Community College. His rendition of ‘Darlin’ Cora’ won over the contest judges, giving him the opportunity to claim his Grand Prize - a slot on Orthophonic Joy: The Bristol Sessions Revisited with Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Vince Gill, and Marty Stuart, among others.
