Central High School senior Alyssa Shell, 18, will be the school’s first student to attend the All-Virginia State Chorus. This prestigious ensemble is being held this week and is comprised of high school juniors and seniors from every district in the state. Auditions took place at the senior district choral event. Students were required to sing an American art song and sight read. Shell has been in choir since fifth grade. She has been a student of Central High Choral Director Amber Burke since ninth grade. Shell is also a member of the school’s A Cappella group and has performed with MYACT and the Southwest Virginia Opera Company at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise. She will also appear in the upcoming 9 O’Clock Club production “Into the Woods” May 7-9 at Central.
