Norton firefighters were able to save the lives of two dogs suffering from smoke inhalation during a house fire March 4 at 116 10th St. NW. According to the fire department, a small stove that heated a covered porch where the dogs were kept caught fire. Here, firefighters Paul Wheatley and Jonathan Brosky assist one dog. Firefighters Brandon Lintz and Levi Delp worked on another dog. After about 30 minutes on oxygen, both dogs were doing well. The fire department obtained two pet rescue mask kits in spring 2017, donated by Invisible Fence Co. in Salem.
