Kelly High School; VPI & SU, 1971, bachelor of science in forestry and wildlife; master's of science in systems management, 1982, University of Southern California. Completed USAF Officer Training School, Navigator Training School, Squadron Officer's School, Air Command and Staff College, Airlift Operations School, Air Ground Operations School and Air War College.• Employment history: USAF 1971-1997. USAF C-130 Navigator flying over 2,900 hours mostly in Europe, South and Central America and the USA. Non-flying assignments were in either command and control or operational planning. Retired from USAF in June 1997 with the rank of lieutenant colonel. Defense contractor until May 2003 when moved to Pound. Private pilot.• Civic involvement: Mayor and interim town manager. Attend First Presbyterian Church. Current member of Cumberlands Airport Commission and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Was Commander of Lonesome Pine Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol for five years.
