Town of Wise Chief Water Plant Operator Caleb Ramsey accepts a proclamation Tuesday from Mayor Teresa Adkins, declaring June 30 as Drinking Water and Wastewater Professionals’ Day. The proclamation reads that conscientious regulation and operation of drinking water plants and distribution systems helps prevent contamination and other avoidable incidents that threaten the well-being of Virginia’s residents. Furthermore, the commonwealth produces an average of more than 817 million gallons of wastewater each day, the proper treatment of which protects the state’s people and the ecological health of its surface waters.
