This property on Hurricane Road is among the latest residential structures to be torn down under a town of Wise program to remove buildings that are in the flood plain along Glade Creek and Yellow Creek. In April, town council awarded a contract to demolish 11 structures to Natural Resource Services Inc. The town received a hazard mitigation grant administered by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. TIM COX PHOTO
