Well done, Ms. Carolyn.  You made a difference!

 
Carolyn Mae Jones, age 77, of Knoxville, TN,./Wise, VA, slipped into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, March 4. Her parents, Harold and Eloise Sumter and her sister, Kathleen, preceded her. 

She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Dr. Ray Jones Jr., a son and daughter, Dwight Jones (Carolina) and Amy Bridges (John), as well as five grandchildren: Emily Bridges, Alexandra, Daniela, D.J. and Martin Jones who were the apples of her eye.  She is also survived by her brother, H.C. Sumter (Janice). Ms. Carolyn leaves behind her precious poodle, Mimi, whom she loved dearly.

Ms. Carolyn was a preschool Sunday school teacher for over forty years.  She loved being a pastor’s wife, always involved in the ministries of the churches she and Ray served in Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee and then for almost thirty years at Wise Baptist Church in Wise, Virginia.  

There will be a memorial service for Ms. Carolyn on Saturday, March 13, at 11 am in the sanctuary of Wise Baptist Church. Internment will follow in the Wise Cemetery. Dr. Lon Shoopman, Pastor Mike Winters and Rev. Jim Collie will officiate. Live streaming of the service can be located on Facebook.com on the Wise Baptist Church page beginning at 10:55 a.m.
