LEON BARNETTE

Leon Barnette, age 80, passed away on Thursday August 13, 2020 at UT Medical Center, Knoxville, TN. 

Leon was born in Wise, VA on November 14, 1939. He is preceded in death by his parents James (JM), and Carrie Barnette and brother Joseph Hale all of Wise. 

He is survived by three sons, Michael Barnette of Wise, Wayne Barnette of Martinsville, Anthony Barnette of Hollywood, FL., and granddaughter Aniston Barnette of Bristol, TN., ex-wife Nellie Barnette of Wise, special friend Kathy Blanton of Norton, three brothers, Marvin Barnette of Wise, Robert Hale of Mt. Carmel, TN., Clayton Hale of Lake Wales, FL., three sisters Anna Flanary, Rosa Gilliam and brother-in-law Danny Gilliam all of Bristol, VA., and Alice Barnette of Bristol, TN.  A host of nieces​, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Leon was a very talented artist, singer, story teller and musician. He enjoyed singing and playing music with his family and friends.  He also loved working in his flower gardens. 

The family will hold a Celebration of Life for family and friends  on Sunday, October 25 from 1 to 6 pm. at Marty Tunnell​’s home at 5045 Tacoma Mt. Road, Wise.
