REKA RENEE JONES

Reka Renee Jones, 56, died Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Norton Community Hospital. Reka was a daughter of the late Holly Leon Jones and Bertha Hunsucker Jones. She had made her home with R & S Helping Hands in Coeburn, VA for the past 10 years. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Sharon Absher and Monica Richardson, and two brothers-in-law: Carl Absher and Jesse Barnett. Reka was a proud graduate of the former Appalachia High School.
She is survived by her sisters and brothers (and their spouses): Judith (Phil) Thompson, Patricia Barnett, and Michael Jones, all of Coos Bay, OR, and Gary (Lisa) Jones, Norton, VA; 11 nieces and nephews, and her special caregiver and friend, Courtney Hale.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank R & S Helping Hands and Norton Community Hospital for their compassion and care of Reka over the years.

The funeral service for Reka will be at 7 PM Thursday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton, with John Meade officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM. Family and friends will gather Friday morning from 10-10:30 AM at the funeral home, where they then will depart in procession to the Laurel Grove Cemetery for burial.
