POWELL ‘STEVE’ STEVENSON

Powell “Steve” Stevenson, 83, of Wise, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Steve was an avid fan of WWE Wrestling, he also loved telling stories to his grandchildren and being with his family.

He was of the Freewill Baptist faith. Steve worked in mining and strip mining for 18 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Sherman and Betty Rebekah Dunford Stevenson; mother of his sons, Reable Stevenson; five sisters, Frances, Laura, Pansy, Goldie and Gladys; and two brothers, Marvin and Suvuera Stevenson.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara of the home; daughter, Rebekah Ritter; two sons, Ricky Stevenson and wife Hope and Mike Belcher and wife Judith; grandchildren, Jill Parker, Joni Strange, Noah Stevenson, Shyla Stevenson, Phillip Belcher and Alex Belcher; great-grandchildren, Brody Parker, Bowen Parker, Brynnlee Joy Parker and Aella Strange; sister, Wanda Rasake and husband Bubby; a special dog, Jr; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Powell “Steve” Stevenson will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 22, 2021 at the Zion Family Ministries in Wise, VA with Dr. Tom Renfro officiating. Burial will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. Family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. till time of services at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 22, 2021 at the church. We will be following State mandated social distancing and occupancy. Masks are required and will not be supplied by the family, church or funeral home.
