TAZZ CHURCH

Tazz Church, 94, of Pound, entered into his eternal reward on Monday March 30, 2020 from his residence.

Tazz was a Christian of the Baptist faith. He attended the Birchfield Church and Mt. Zion Church. Tazz was a veteran of the United States Army having served during WW II and was a member of the Pound VFW Post 9600.

After serving in the military Tazz married the love of his life Irene Dickenson on December 14, 1946. He then went to work for Dockson Corporation as a machinist and retired with over 28 years of service. Tazz and Irene loved to travel and went on many enjoyable trips together. He was a loving and devoted husband. Taking care of Irene was his first priority Tazz had a calm and gentle nature and was kind to everyone he knew. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking and liked to tinker with lots of things. He also enjoyed gospel music and looked to his daily phone calls with his sister Gladys.  

Tazz was preceded in death by his wife Irene (Dickenson) Church; his parents Trigg and Mae (Hampton) Church; and a brother Ted R. Church.

Survivors include his sisters, Gladys Hubbard of Pound and Lydia Back of McRoberts, KY; special nieces, Diane Sproles and Shirley Phillips; special nephew Tracy Church; his care-givers ,Nellie Boggs and Yevonne Stallard; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends and loved ones. 

Private funeral services for the immediate family were conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday April 1 in the Baker Funeral Home chapel with Elder Danny Baker officiating.

Burial followed in the Dickenson Family Cemetery in Pound. Due to the restrictions set forth by the CDC and Virginia State mandates in regards to CoVid-19, limits have been set on the number of people that can attend a public or private gathering. At this time it is out of the control of either the family or the funeral home and we hope that everyone understands the situation during this time.
