SNAP benefits to get boost

Emergency benefits will be made available to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program participants during March and April as part of previously-approved federal virus relief legislation, according to the Virginia Department of Social Services.

Emergency benefits will go to any participating household that does not already receive maximum benefits.

The emergency benefits will increase recipients’ monthly allotment as follows:

• One person, $194.

• Two, $355.

• Three, $509.

• Four, $646.

• Five, $768.

• Six, $921.

• Seven, $1,018.

• Eight, $1,164.

Emergency benefits for March were set to be released Wednesday. Regular benefits for April will go out on the usual date, with emergency benefits added April 16.
