THOMAS MCKINLEY CAMPBELL

Thomas McKinley (Kenneth) Campbell, 78, of Pound, entered peacefully into his eternity Sunday January 26, 2020 from Norton Community Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Kenneth was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather and brother. He had fought a long and courageous battle with cancer and had kept the faith and determination until the Lord called him home.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division. Kenneth was retired coal miner from Westmoreland Coal Co. with over 26 years of service.

Kenneth loved spending time with his loving family, fishing and hunting with his grandchildren, and making lots of memories with his family.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his father Tom Campbell, his mother Lila (Nickles) Campbell and a brother Roy Campbell.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Linda (Strange) Campbell; his daughters, Karen Bailey and husband Mike of Wise, Carol Campbell of Pound and Vickie Mullins and husband Kain of Pound; sons Bobby Campbell and wife Kim of Wise and Reverend Chris Strange and wife Jennifer of Pound; seven grandchildren Andrew Nash, Hannah Cantrell and husband Alex, Josh Strange, Lindsey Strange. Dustin Bailey, Danielle Stanley and Clinton Mullins; six great grandchildren, Dave, Aryann and Ryan Bailey, Madison, Jesslyn and Grayson Stanley; five brothers Ernest (Betty), Howard (Patty), Charlie (Mary), Terry (Barbara) and Reggie (Rebecca) Campbell; four sisters Brenda (Mike)Taylor, Kathy (Terry) Rose, Linda (Dave ) Pilkenton and Debbie Campbell; special niece, Mary Elizabeth; pawpaw’s kids Cole, Parker and Keaton; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends and loved ones

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Southwest Virginia Regional Cancer Center staff and nurses; to Dr. Nicholas Cook and Dr. Stephan Frye and to Norton Community Hospital staff and nurses of the ICU and Med-Surg I.

Funeral services were conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 28 in the Baker Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Chris Strange and Reverend Randy Carter officiating. The family received friends from 5 pm until time of services.

Pound VFW Post 9600 conducted military graveside services at 12:45 pm Wednesday, January 29 in the funeral home parking lot. Graveside services followed in the Strange/Campbell family cemetery in Pound where Andrew Nash, Joshua Strange, Dustin Bailey, Kain Mullins, Michael Bailey and Alex Cantrell served as pallbearers.
