CHARLES EDWARD STURGILL

Charles Edward Sturgill, 82, of Rossville, GA, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at his home.

He found Jesus as his Lord and Savior, December 29, 1968 and followed him from that time forward. He was a deacon, bus pastor, Sunday School teacher and youth pastor at churches in Greenville, South Carolina and Charleston, Illinois. He pastored churches in Horace, Illinois and Pound, Virginia. He moved to Rossville, Georgia 9 years ago and found his church home at Stanley Heights Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Jacqueline Sturgill; and his brother, Doug Sturgill.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Peggy Bond Sturgill of Rossville, Georgia; daughter, Kathy Groves and husband John of Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren, JC Groves and wife Kym, Laura Groves and Daniel Groves and wife Tiffany; ten great-grandchildren: Adaley, Kaden, Colton, Corbin, Kenzie, Lucas, Brogan, Katie, Stella and Karoline; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside committal services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1 at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap.
