<p>Retired Col. Gail Halvorsen, famous as the ‘Candy Bomber’ for starting the popular practice of dropping candy bars to besieged Berlin residents during the 1948-49 Berlin Airlift, meets Ingrid Carter Wednesday at her Weber City restaurant, Gasthaus Edelweiss. Carter was eight years old and living in Berlin during the airlift, but was not able to get a candy bar dropped from the sky until the event was re-enacted in 2008 at the first ‘Let Freedom Ring’ event in Wise.
