The Coalfield Agricultural Center will host the First Annual Extension Fair on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dickenson and Wise County Cooperative Extension are partnering to organize the event. The center is located on Red Onion Mountain, with the entrance near the Dickenson-Wise County line between Clintwood and Pound.
Categories in the fair will include produce, canned goods, honey, and poultry exhibits. Ribbons and prize money will be awarded. Live music from local artists will be played throughout the day alongside agriculture demonstrations.
4-H pullet project participants will also have their pullet show and auction on Saturday, Aug. 23. Pullets will be judged on Friday and open to public auction on Saturday with a silent auction. Bids will be accepted from 3-4 p.m.
Wise County and Dickenson County senior 4-H members will be providing concessions to raise money for their respective programs. There will also be a cake walk sponsored by Wise County Family and Consumer Sciences.
