Santa is sure to be seen in Dickenson County over the next couple of weeks, as all three towns have Christmas activities scheduled.
The festivities begin in Haysi Friday, Dec. 6, with a tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. across from town hall. Immediately following the ceremony, refreshments will be served in the town’s new community center, located in the old theatre building.
A Christmas parade will be held Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. Line-up for the parade begins at 2 p.m. at Haysi Funeral Home. Those walking in the parade will line up at the library. To register a float or for more information contact Haysi town hall at 865-5187.
Clintwood’s Christmas parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. Line-up begins at 5 p.m. on the old Clintwood highway across from Colley Shopping Center. Anyone with questions about the parade may contact the town hall at 926-8383.
Christmas in the Park begins immediately following the parade at the walking park beside Food City. The free, family-oriented event is sponsored by Clintwood Steering Committee and features free hot chocolate, coffee, tea and cookies, lots of goodies from community vendors, organizations and individuals and an opportunity for children to meet Santa and his wife.
A Christmas parade will be held in Clinchco Saturday, Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. Lineup will begin at noon beside Triple T on Vocational Drive. Entries of all kinds, including church groups, civic organizations, sports groups, antique cars, ATVs and more are sought.
The event is sponsored by Youth Revolution.
