A Norton man’s condition has been upgraded from critical to serious after he was shot last week. Jerry Adkins, 61, was listed in serious condition Thursday morning at Holston Valley Medical Center, according to Wellmont Health System spokesman Jim Wozniak. Adkins, a resident of the Norton Green apartments on 14th Street NW, allegedly was shot Dec. 1 by a neighbor, Timothy Lemay, 50, who is under arrest. Adkins was shot in the abdomen, according to city police, who responded to a 911 call of shots fired. There was an argument, police say, but further details have not been released.
