WISE — Gov. Terry McAuliffe surveyed snowstorm damage at the county justice center Wednesday, praising local officials for their recovery efforts and getting briefed on developments. The governor’s plane had to land in Abingdon because of snow blockage at Lonesome Pine Airport. He rode a helicopter to Lonesome Pine, then was driven to damage sites. At the justice center, McAuliffe was briefed by Army National Guard soldiers of the 1033rd Engineer Co. and by Virginia Guard public affairs officer Cotton Puryear on rescue, recovery and snow removal operations.
