COEBURN — Rainy weather didn’t cancel a celebration Saturday at the Guest River Gorge Trail that commemorated a milestone of the trail’s creation and encouraged discussion about expanding the recreation area’s footprint. This year marks the 25th anniversary of a 6.5-mile section of the Guest River being inducted into the state’s Scenic Rivers Program. This designation helped inspire efforts to establish the five-plus mile rails-to-trails footpath that follows the Guest River to its confluence with the Clinch River.
