Some 500 people converged on Coeburn March 21 to commemorate March 21 as World Down Syndrome Day. Some 34 Down syndrome families from Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee along with friends and supporters jammed Ringley Park, where Coeburn Town Council signed a resolution officially declaring March 21 as Down Syndrome Day in Coeburn. Council presented the resolution to event coordinators Angela Hughes and Crystal Lawson.
