County revisits demolition policy

WISE — The county has a list of 34 properties that its building and zoning office has condemned, but they remain standing because demolition funds are lacking. There are many more dilapidated properties beyond salvaging that should be demolished but have not been officially condemned. During the county board of supervisors’ March 22 meeting, county attorney Karen Mullins once again put before supervisors the question of how to address the problem. Wise County has a longstanding moratorium against taking part in building demolition unless a property presents an imminent danger to the public....
