Around 100 area residents gathered on a Sunday afternoon earlier this month to recognize a Clintwood woman whose care and compassion for her community are considered by many as unsurpassed. Dr. Patricia Vanover, better known locally as “Doc Pat,” officially retired from her full-time medical practice at Stone Mountain Health Clinic in Haysi on April 30, ending a medical career that spanned 40 years.
