BIG STONE GAP - The Vikings (18-2, 8-1) clinched at least a tie for the Lonesome Pine District regular-season championship with the win.

Powell Valley can win the district title with a victory at J.I. Burton on Friday.

Sam Vaughn led the Vikings with 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Pound (6-14, 2-6) got 17 points from Josh Lowe.

APPALACHIA 59, J.J. KELLY 40

APPALACHIA - The Bulldogs clinched second place in the Lonesome Pine District with a big win over the visiting Indians.

Appalachia (17-2, 7-2) outscored the Indians (10-10, 5-4) 23-4 over a stretch covering the final 4 minutes of the second quarter and the first 3:35 of the third quarter to pull away for the win.

Tyler Hall led a balanced Bulldog scoring attack with 16 points, while Forrest Stuart and Mladen Bogicevic scored 14 points each.

Alex Couch led Kelly in scoring with 9 points.

CLINTWOOD 58, J.I. BURTON 35

CLINTWOOD - Cameron Vanover scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Greenwave (7-11, 3-5) to a Lonesome Pine District win.

Sawyer Turner led Burton (3-13, 1-8) with 16 points.

CASTLEWOOD 51, RYE COVE 30

CASTLEWOOD - The Blue Devils (18-4, 9-1) moved a step closer to the Cumberland District championship with a big win over the visiting Eagles (2-19, 1-10).

Aaron Kennedy led Castlewood scorers with 16 points, while Zach Maness led Rye Cove with 13 points.

CLINTWOOD - The Lady Raiders remained undefeated with a big win over the Lady Greenwave.

Ra'Shelle Miller the state's top-ranked Group A team with 26 points, 13 rebounds and 7 steals, while Chelsea Forney added 11 points and 8 aasists fro the Lady Raiders (20-0, 9-0).

Clintwood (5-14, 0-8) got 13 points from Caitlyn Stanley.

J.J. KELLY 69, APPALACHIA 27

APPALACHIA - The Lady Indians jumped out to an 18-6 first-quarter lead and never looked back on the way to a big Lonesome Pine District win.

Allison Mullins led Kelly (6-3, 15-5) with 20 points and 15 rebounds, while Andrea Hopkins hit five 3-point shots to finish the night with 15 points.

Appalachia (9-11, 3-6) was led by the 10-point performance of Hannah Grosshenning.

CASTLEWOOD 52, RYE COVE 44

CASTLEWOOD - The Lady Blue Devils (13-7, 8-2) hit 12 of 17 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter to seal a key Cumberland District win.

Hayley Gilbert finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Castlewood, while Leigha Statzer added 14 points and Nicole Counts finished with 10.

Rye Cove (8-13, 6-5) got 14 points from Amber Moore and 13 from Christi Hood.

BIG STONE GAP - Brittany Bishop led the Lady Vikings (11-9, 5-4) with 16 points in the Lonesome Pine District win, while Samantha Balthis led Pound (11-7, 3-5) with 16 points.
