Christie’s Office Supply, 100 Broad Street, has been an anchor for the Broad Street business community since 1978.

Owner Jim Christie said he knows that the two-story building which houses his store has been around since the 1870s when it was the Rome Hotel. At one point not so long ago, the building had a bowling alley on the second floor.

Christie’s carries a full line of office furniture and office supplies, along with machines from cash registers to fax machine and copy machines. Jim Christie said that computerization has been the biggest change in his industry over the last three and a half decades. “It’s created a whole different set of office supplies, and we’ve got pretty much all of them,” Christie said.

Christie’s said that superior customer service and an extremely loyal customers base has kept his business thriving in the face of modern day competition from the big box office supply stores and the Internet. In fact, Christie’s still offer free deliver services. “We go the extra mile on service,” Christie said.

Seven employees, most of whom have been with Christie for an extremely long time, man the two-story office supply store. In fact, his employees have more than 100 years of com-bined experience.
