Police arrested Jermaine Christopher Johnson.
A man is in custody and another man is recovering from stab wounds following an attempted breaking and entering in Wise Monday morning.
According to a press release the Wise County Sheriff’s Office issued Tuesday morning, officers received a call about the incident on Fincastle Road at 11:08 a.m. Monday and arrived on scene at 11:16 a.m.
The victim was home when he heard someone attempting to get inside. He confronted the suspect and was attacked, suffering stab wounds to his face and upper body, the release states. The suspect fled on foot when a local citizen saw the incident and came to assist the victim.

Officers found the suspect hiding behind a trailer at the end of Fincastle Road and arrested him without incident. They also located a large quantity of what appeared to be synthetic drugs, crystal methamphetamine, cash and a handgun.
The suspect was identified as Jermaine Christopher Johnson, 31, of 408 Mason Ave., Wise. He was charged with aggravated malicious wounding, attempted second degree murder and attempted breaking and entering during the daytime.
Other charges are pending upon analysis of the drugs by the state forensics lab.
Johnson is being held without bond in the Duffield regional jail.
The victim was treated for injuries at a local hospital and released.
Sheriff Ronnie Oakes credited the Wise Police Department, Virginia State Police, the UVa-Wise Police Department, and Coeburn Police Department for their assistance.
