WISE — The Wolfpack’s second game at the Grand Home Furnishing Holiday Classic was a consolation game with the Bearcats from Virginia High played on Friday afternoon. The Pack came up short against the Bearcats, falling 49-47.
The Wolfpack trailed 31-37 going into the final quarter. They outscored their opponent 16-12 in the quarter but came up short by two points.
Tyler O’Quin led the Pack with 18 points and four rebounds. Gabe Counts scored nine points and had eight rebounds. Trenton Adkins scored six points and pulled down nine rebounds. Brody Counts scored five points, Austin Mullins four points, Nick Phillips three points, while Gage Brown added two points.
Ridgeview advanced to the final consolation games on Saturday morning where they played the Eagles of Rye Cove. Both teams were winless in the tournament and were playing to stay out of last place.
The Pack and the Eagles were evenly matched as the score was tied after each of the first three quarters. The Wolfpack pulled away in the final quarter outscoring Rye Cove 17-10 to claim a 58-51 victory.
Gabe Counts led the Wolfpack with a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds. Tyler O’Quin scored 13 points and Trenton Adkins 10 points. Gabe Brown scored five points and pulled down nine rebounds. Brody Counts and Joey Yates each scored four points.
For his tournament performance, Gabe Counts was voted on the all tournament team.
