ROSE RIDGE — Last Wednesday, Ridgeview’s girls’ tennis team continued their dominance on the season as they dispensed of the Lady Bears 9-0.

The Lady Wolfpack is 4-1 over all and 2-1 in Mountain 7 play. Last year’s two-seed, Hannah Thacker, has moved up to be top seed for the team.

Having already signed her letter of intent to play tennis for Bluefield College next year, the senior spoke about what it means to lead the team.

“I definitely didn’t think it would be this much pressure,” Thacker said. “But, now that I know they look at me as the leader, I know I have to set a good example for my team. I feel like I have to keep winning and keep the pressure on.”

Thacker handily defeated Union’s top-seeded Saylor Gilly 6-0, 6-0.

Ridgeview’s one and two-seed doubles are undefeated on the season. Thacker and junior Rachel Hillman are 5-0 as the top seeds, while senior Makenzie Robinette and junior Hannah Dotson hold the same record.

Robinette has moved up to the three-seed position in singles action and has only dropped one match this year. Her intention is to get back to the state tournament again this year.

“To get back to state, we have to just keep doing what we’re doing. We have to boost each other’s confidence and keep the younger players confident as well,” Robinette said.

Robinette defeated Union’s Haelen Howard 8-1 in the three seed position.

Hillman upended Union’s Madalyn Ratcliffe 8-2 for a two-seed victory.

Hannah Dotson was victorious over the Lady Bears’ Britan Gilly 8-3 in the fourth seed position.

Emma Mullins defeated Madison Lewis 8-0 and Haley Collins came in over Madison Head 8-2 in the five and six-seed positions.

In doubles action, the team of Thacker/Hillman defeated Ratcliffe/Howard 6-0, 6-2.

Robinette/Dotson came in on top of S. Gilly/B. Gilly 8-0.

Mullins/Raegan Rasnick defeated Head/Meredith 8-3.
