The Wise Farmers Market is set to open Thursday, June 13, at 5 p.m. at Big Glades in downtown Wise.
Although it’s a little early for some growers’ produce, town organizers report there will be many other things available.
In addition to the early homegrown produce, look for homemade sourdough breads and desserts, fried pies, homemade yeast breads plus crafts.
This year, the town of Wise will have the kids’ bucks program, which allows children from ages 2 to 12 who are accompanied by a parent or guardian to be issued kids’ bucks to spend with the vendors. Wise wants to encourage healthful eating habits for kids of all ages. The Wise Kiwanis Club and the Eastern Star sponsor that program.
Some market vendors also accept seniors’ coupons and WIC coupons as well.
Susan’s Arts and Crafts will be offering “Sip and Paint” classes with lemonade, which is open to the first 12 participants. Classes are $15 and materials are provided. Pre-register on the Susan’s Arts and Crafts Facebook page.
The town invites citizens to come by the Wise Farmers Market Thursday to kick off the 2019 market season.
For more information about the market or to become a vendor, call Market Coordinator/Manager Ann Maness at the town of Wise Municipal Building at 328-6013, extension 230, or visit the town of Wise website at www.townofwise.net.
