BIG STONE GAP — Saturday wrestlers from four teams in the Mountain 7 came to Union to compete in the district wrestling tournament. While John Battle walked out with the team trophy, several local athletes showed off their abilities and took home some individual championships.

Tyler Herron of Central pinned Evan Moore of John Battle to win the 106-pound weight class.

Central’s Brayden Spears pinned Battle’s Christopher Johnson to take first place in the 126 pound weight class.

In the 132-pound weight range, Union’s Rachelle Bright pinned Dawson Peck of John Battle to take the victory.

Jonah Phillips of Central took the victory at 138 pounds over Isaiah Dotson of Lee high school.

Union’s Noah Bolling earned second place in his loss to Nicholas Napier of Lee High.

Brodie Bryant of Central came in second to Bryson Denton of John Battle at 160 pounds.

Braxton Fritz of Union defeated Kaleb Streit of John Battle to win the 170-pound weight class.

Bryce Guerrant of Union defeated Austin Eldridge of Central at 182 pounds.

Union’s Mason Polier defeated Tielor Horne of John Battle to earn first at 195 pounds.

Terrell Davis of Union earned third place at 220 pounds.

Nick Cooper of Union defeated Raymond Rodriguez of Battle to take the 285-pound victory.
