STEVEN SHELCY BOGGS

Steven Shelcy Boggs, 61, of Pound, entered into his Savior’s  Kingdom Monday June 10, 2019 from the Norton Community Hospital. His loving family was at his side.

Steve was a born again Christian and child of God. He was committed to his faith and his family. Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was proud to work and provide for his family.

He enjoyed life and loved his family and friends. Steve had recently retired after nearly 30 years at Humphreys. He enjoyed working with and riding his horses. He enjoyed the horse shows and the friendships that came with them. He was quite the jokester with a quick wit and shared his love of laughter with everyone he met. He was a selfless man who was dedicated to caring for his wife and being the best dad he could be to them.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Shelcy (Shag) Boggs.

Survivors include his loving wife of almost 32 years Joyce (Terry) Boggs; his mother, Madge (Brummitt) Boggs of Pound; daughters Jennifer Strange and husband Chris of Pound and Megan Nicely and husband Garth of Wise; his sons, Travis Crabtree and wife Tracie of Richlands and Jamie Hyden of Norton; grandchildren Josh Strange, Lindsey Strange, Haven Crabtree, Hailyn Crabtree, Anistyn Crabtree, Mallory Mullis and Stetson Shelcy Nicely; his great-grandson Lucas Strange; his sister Martha Jett and husband Jack of Pound; a brother, Kent Boggs of Pound; several nieces, nephews and cousins; his best friend Randy “Harlow” Shortt; and a host of friends and loved ones.

Funeral services were conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday June 13, in the Baker Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Chris Strange and Reverend Randy Carter officiating. The family received friends from 5 p.m. until time of services.

   Elder Stacy Potter will conduct graveside committal services at 11 a.m. Friday June 14 at the Addington Cemetery on Scott Roberson Hollow Road in Wise where Jamie Hyden, Travis Crabtree, Anthony Sturgill, Garth Nicely, Chris Strange, Kent Boggs, Randy Shortt, Josh Strange, Brad Jett, Jack Jett, Brady Sturgill and Cole Sturgill will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at Baker Funeral Home by 10 a.m. to prepare to go in procession to the cemetery.
