ACAC stages ‘Home

for Christmas’

Appalachia Cultural Arts Center presents Anne Coulter Martens’ “Home for Christmas” at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 and Nov. 24 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 and Nov. 25. The play, by turns funny and sad, follows three adult siblings as they come home for a Christmas reunion that uncovers old and new tensions. There’s also old love and new love in the air as the family rediscovers the meaning of Christmas. Tickets are $10 each; call 276/565-1386 for reservations.

Celebrate the annual Festival of Trees. Eighty-one trees will be decked out for the holiday season as will doorways, banisters and mantels. Area businesses, schools, churches, civic groups and individuals pitch in by creating themed decorations. The Festival of Trees will be available for viewing during the museum's normal operating hours. Regular admission rates will apply; guided tours for groups are available. Adults: $5 Children: 6-12 $3 Under 6: free

Christmas bazaar, tree lighting in Coeburn

The Coeburn Improvement Association will sponsor a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. inside the Depot downtown Coeburn. Call 276-690-4135 for more information

The Coeburn Improvement Association will sponsor a tree lighting on Saturday, November 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the Depot Stage.  The King’s Messengers will be providing the entertainment. Norton Christmas parade, tree lighting

Norton Christmas parade is Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. Floats will be judged on adherence to the parade theme, ‘Blue Christmas’ and workmanship. Winners first place $400; second place $300; third place $200 and fourth place $100. No cost to register. Parade lineup up at 5 p.m. at J.I. Burton High School. Questions? The City of Norton invites you to a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and other holiday activities:

Dec. 1 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Veterans Park, 746 Park Avenue. Festivities will include tree lighting, music by Freddie Bradley; carolers, holiday treats and games, crafts for kids; a movie, Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas, at Park Avenue Theater; The Shack (food vendor); popcorn, hot chocolate, coffee and special guests.
