BLUEFIELD, Va. — Union traveled to Bluefield, Va. to take on the Graham G-Men in the Region 2D semifinal basketball semifinal matchup. The Bears seemed to be unable to find their niche in the first half of play being down by almost 20 points at the half and ended up succumbing 56-42.
“We got in a hole and I thought that we played a little scared or timid in the first half,” Union head coach Zack Moore said. “I was hoping that we would turn it around. We found ourselves closing the gap with a five-point difference and we had a chance to make it one point by having two free throws on a foul and then 2 free throws on a technical. But we couldn’t capitalize on those opportunities.”
Noah Garrison and Andy Jones led the Bears as they poured in 13 points apiece. Connor Giza sank seven points. Alex Rasnick aided with five points. Nick Guerrant and Devan Young both scored two points apiece to account for the Bears’ overall score of the game.
The Bears’ season ended with an overall record of 15-13. The Bears will be graduating five seniors from this year’s team, but the future is bright.
